Time & Relationships

Industry Observations

If I had to sum up what business development meant in two words I think “time” & “relationships” would be appropriate. I hope most people would agree with me that business gets done with people we enjoy having a relationship with. In those instances where we do not have a relationship with a company we want to do business with we need to invest the time to develop that relationship or as I like to call it championing a relationship.

The latter can become quite challenging especially if you are a small business owner. You may have the talent to create new business opportunities but because of your other responsibilities you lack the time it takes to make them a reality.

Business Development is not rocket science. It’s also not easy because there is no quick fix. It’s something that requires time, persistence, and passion. Did I mention it takes time, and that your investment may not yield immediate results! If it was easy everyone would get involved and every business would flourish.

Stay tuned for more on this subject matter.
